Anycubic Photon Mono 4 first print: a controlled first run

Run a controlled first print on the Anycubic Photon Mono 4, from pouring standard resin to safely removing the finished part.

Use a standard, general-purpose resin for the first print on the Mono 4. It behaves predictably and keeps the first run focused on the printer and the workflow, not on a specialty resin’s cure quirks.

With gloves and glasses on, pour resin into the clean vat up to a level below its maximum fill line, then close the lid right away. A closed lid between checks limits both the odor in the room and the ambient light reaching the vat.

Open Anycubic Photon Workshop, select the Photon Mono 4 profile so the slicer matches the screen resolution and machine dimensions, and load a simple test model, either a bundled sample or a small file with an obvious flat or detailed surface. Slice it with the default settings for the resin type you loaded rather than adjusting exposure values on this first run.

Start the print and watch the first few layers appear on the printer’s screen. The base layers use a longer exposure than the rest of the model to anchor the part to the plate. Do not open the lid while they are printing.

Let the job run to completion without interrupting it. Once it finishes, put gloves back on before touching anything resin-related, lift the plate out, and let excess resin drip back into the vat for a minute before moving it to a wash station.

Wash the part in IPA or the wash liquid appropriate for the resin used, then post-cure it under UV light before handling it bare-handed. A successful first print shows clean, fully cured layers, no tacky surface, and no half-formed sections where exposure ran short.
