Copy the complete four-group HMS code from the A2L’s screen before clearing it, and note whether the printer’s own Smart Monitoring already paused the job and named a cause, filament tangle, runout, nozzle clumping or air printing, rather than showing a plain HMS number. The A2L flags several common faults this way before they ever become a numbered code.

For anything that does show as a full HMS code, look it up on the A2L’s own wiki section rather than an A1 or P1S article. The A2L shares its overall framework with Bambu’s other printers, but individual codes, such as the extrusion-motor-overload code or the AMS Lite feed-failure code, are documented separately for this model and its AMS Lite hardware.

Start with the check the alert already points to. A Smart Monitoring pause for tangle, runout or clumping is meant to be fixed at the filament path, not cleared and ignored; a motor noise cancellation code just asks for a quick recalibration from the settings menu, not a part swap. Treat those two categories differently before assuming a more serious motor fault applies.

Don’t dismiss a repeated extrusion-motor or AMS Lite feed error as a one-off. If clearing the filament path or reseating the AMS Lite spool doesn’t stop the code from returning, that points to a genuine motor or feed-mechanism problem rather than a temporary jam.

Stop and contact Bambu Lab support for a heatbed or power-supply-related code, a motor error that recalibration doesn’t fix, or anything the printer flags alongside a smell or visible damage. Keep the full HMS code and firmware version on hand.
