Flashforge keeps a running list of error codes for the Adventurer 5M series on its wiki, and most of what a beginner runs into traces back to something reversible: debris on the bed, a loose cable, a nozzle that was not seated correctly after a swap. Working through the simple checks first, before assuming a part has failed, clears the large majority of alerts without opening the printer up.
Leveling errors are a common group. E0042 (leveling sensor not triggered), E0043 (leveling sensor triggered early), E0111 (abnormal leveling data) and E0112 (leveling triggered early) usually point to something sitting on the plate or nozzle, bed locking nuts that are too tight or too loose, or an extruder that is not fully seated. Cleaning the plate and nozzle, checking the four bed nuts, and reseating the extruder before re-running ADM leveling resolves most of these.
Homing errors show up as E0012, E0013 and E0014 for the X, Y and Z axes. Flashforge’s own notes list loose wiring hanging into the axis path, or something physically blocking the sensor, as the first things to check, before assuming the homing sensor itself is damaged.
Heating errors such as E0006 through E0009, covering the nozzle not reaching temperature, and E0046 through E0048, covering bed or extruder temperature control, usually start with a loose cable or connector. Reseating the extruder cable and restarting the printer is the first thing to try before assuming a heater or sensor needs replacing.
A couple of others worth knowing: E0019 (USB flash drive read error) is often just a format mismatch, and reformatting the drive to FAT32 usually clears it. E0017 (command exceeds queue limit) means the print speed is too high for the file being processed, and Flashforge’s guidance is to lower the overall print speed or reduce slicing resolution rather than suspect the printer itself.
When none of these checks clear the alert, codes like E0002 (communication with MCU interrupted), E0005 (MCU unable to connect) and E0011 (host error) point toward the extruder cable or board, and are worth pursuing only once the reversible checks above have been ruled out.
Most of these codes trace back to routine upkeep rather than a failed part, such as a dirty plate, filament debris near the runout sensor, or a nozzle that wasn’t reseated after a swap.
