Before the first print, confirm the plate type and filament profile actually match what is loaded in Bambu Studio. A mismatched plate setting or wrong filament preset changes bed temperature and first-layer squish, and the P2S will follow whatever the slicer tells it even if the physical setup does not match.
The live camera streams at 1920×1080 and 30fps, and its AI detection watches for spaghetti, foreign objects, nozzle clumping and other common failures. Treat it as a safety net that catches problems after they start, not a reason to skip watching the first layer yourself. Detection can miss unusual failure modes, especially early in a new profile or with an unfamiliar filament.
Watch the first layer go down in person. Lines should sit flat and touch each other without gaps, without a raised seam, and without dragging or curling at the edges. A first layer that looks starved, over-squished or patchy is worth stopping for, since it rarely improves once later layers start stacking on top of it.
Once the first layer looks correct and a few more layers have built cleanly, a short, well-tested print on a familiar filament can usually run unattended. A long print, a new filament, a new profile or anything using the AMS for the first time deserves at least occasional in-person checks, camera detection included.
If the AI detection pauses the print or the touchscreen reports an error, do not just resume without looking. Check the nozzle, the plate and the last few layers first, since a pause usually means something on the machine actually changed, not that the software is being cautious for no reason.
