Bambu Lab P2S calibration: the useful routines

Run the right Bambu Lab P2S calibration routines, including bed leveling, flow tuning and the new eddy-current active flow calibration, without masking a hardware problem.

Person adjusting 3D printer settings during calibration

Run the P2S machine calibration after initial setup, a move to another surface, a firmware update, or any motion system service. Keep the enclosure clear and do not touch the frame or the toolhead while it measures vibration and motion response.

Bed leveling belongs at the start of a diagnostic when first-layer height changes across filament you already know is fine. Clean the nozzle and the plate before you run it. A stray dot of plastic under the nozzle can turn a perfectly good machine into a bad measurement and send you chasing the wrong problem.

Flow dynamics and flow-rate tests belong to the filament preset, not to the whole machine. Use them for a dry third-party material that prints consistently wrong, not for a single failed print on a dirty plate. Change one calibration value at a time and keep the original system preset available to compare against.

The P2S adds an eddy-current sensor that was not on the P1S, and it enables active flow calibration during printing rather than relying only on preset values. It is a useful addition for filaments with variable flow behavior, but it works alongside the standard calibration routines, not instead of them.

The live camera calibrates its own position by reading a silkscreen marking on the heatbed. Recalibrate it if the heatbed or camera has been removed and refitted, if the marking gets scratched or covered, or if detection starts flagging normal prints as failures.

If the printer makes a new mechanical noise or reports a sensor error, stop. Calibration measures the machine; it does not repair damaged hardware.

These routines slot into the broader order described in essential calibration, in the right order, which is worth reading once for the reasoning behind the sequence. If the printer is freshly unpacked, finish the P2S setup steps first, and confirm the P2S first print looks clean before chasing calibration numbers.
