Load and unload filament on a Bambu Lab P2S from an external spool or AMS, with clean tips, correct mapping, and a full purge.

Feed filament from the external spool holder, or from the AMS or AMS 2 Pro if one is connected. Bambu Studio prompts you through either path the same way it did on the P1S. Match the setting to how the spool is actually sitting before you start.

Cut the end of the filament at a clean angle before feeding it in. A blunt or frayed tip catches at the gear entrance and can jam the path before the extruder gets a grip on it. A sharp diagonal cut loads on the first try.

Wait for the full purge to finish on any material or color change. The DynaSense extruder clears old filament with more force than the P1S’s design, but the hotend still needs the full purge volume, or the next print picks up a mixed color.

If the RFID tag on Bambu filament does not auto detect the material or color, correct the mapping by hand in Bambu Studio before you slice. A mismatched preset applies the wrong flow and temperature settings, and you end up chasing stringing or under extrusion for the wrong reason.

Bambu’s own guidance calls for an external spool holder when printing TPU 90A or 85A on P series printers, rather than running soft filament through the AMS. Follow that recommendation instead of improvising, since soft filament behaves differently under the AMS’s internal tension than rigid materials do.

Never force filament through a blocked path. The P2S servo extruder produces roughly 70 percent more force than the P1S’s stepper motor, so a jam that would stall an older machine can grind through and damage the nozzle or gears instead. Clear the obstruction first, then reload.
