Bambu Lab AMS 2 Pro setup for the P2S

How to set up an AMS 2 Pro with a Bambu Lab P2S, including the separate buffer requirement, PTFE tube routing and desiccant checks.

Remove every internal shipping restraint from the AMS 2 Pro before powering it on, including any tape or foam holding the internal hub and feeders in place. Check all four slots for a stray restraint before loading filament.

The desiccant ships installed and is yellow when dry. Take it out of its sealed bag before placing it in the unit if you are replacing it, and watch for a shift to purple, which means it is saturated and needs replacing or re-drying.

A P2S needs a separate buffer, a slider, spring and Hall sensor assembly, fitted between the AMS 2 Pro and the printer to regulate filament tension. This buffer is not included with a standalone P2S or a standalone AMS 2 Pro. It ships only with the P2S Combo bundle, so budget for it separately otherwise.

Route the PTFE tube from the AMS 2 Pro outlet to the printer’s buffer using Bambu’s diagram, which specifies roughly 600mm of tubing for a standard P2S layout. Avoid a tight bend behind the printer and make sure the top glass does not pinch the tube.

Load compatible spools into the four bays and feed each clean tip until the feeder captures it. Enter material and color in Bambu Studio where the RFID coils do not tag it automatically, and verify the mapping before slicing a multicolor job.

Monitor the cabin’s humidity and temperature through the printer screen, Bambu Studio or Bambu Handy, and regenerate desiccant on its schedule. The drying modules top out at 65C and are not a substitute for a dedicated high-temperature dryer. A feeder that keeps slipping means inspect the spool and path, not keep commanding retries.

Keeping filament dry inside the AMS 2 Pro ties directly into the broader filament storage guide, especially for materials that absorb moisture quickly. If the printer itself is still being unpacked, finish the P2S setup steps first, then use the P2S loading and unloading guide to feed the first spools once the AMS 2 Pro is wired in.
